Princess Chulabhorn’s Collage Mukdahan
PCCM is a short name which means Princess Chulabhorn’s Collage Mukdahan. Although many people say that PCCM is a private school, this school is actually a public school. My school is Science-Math program. We call “Mahidol program”
This program will be able to guide students to be a researcher.PCCM is located in Bangsaiyai sub-district, Mueang District, Mukdahan province. There are 5 main buildings for learning purposes.
All the rooms are well equipped to help students achieve their goals. We have other support buildings too; such as the meeting hall, a canteen, gymnasium, and first aid room. For safety and convenience, there is an upper level foot-bridge that connects all the major buildings. These bridges help the traffic flow between classes, and give us a bird’s eye view of the area below. Every corner of the school is occupied with activities related to subjects we learn in class. The common grounds between buildings are arranged with beautiful flower gardens where students can relax and chat when they are free from studying. It really helps their creative thinking when they can sit in the middle of these beautiful gardens. In terms of curriculum, my school use both
Mahidol curriculum and The Basic Education Core Curriculum. English book that we partly use is ACCESS for M1, M2 and M3. We somehow use UPSTREAM for M4, M5 and M6. We are not specific to the book but we highlighted on the knowledge and experience that students should learn.
The most important thing is that learners learn to be responsible for his own learning and actions. They do not just learn to be but learn to sacrifice. Originally PCCM was opened for Science-Math program. However, Education Hub Program begins at the Mattayomsuksa 1 level and Mattayomsuksa 4 level of 2010 academic year. Many programs are available that give opportunities for learning. There are specialties in science, math, and languages. The popular languages currently are English, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
Students are taught by foreign teachers in all subjects except Thai language, physical education and art. Even our Buddhism students learn in English. We enjoy speaking English with the native speakers everyday! This makes both teachers and students more confident. It is fun to experience speaking English in real situations and it does encourage a significant number of smart students to study here. There are 127 teachers and support stuff at PCCM and 1,036 student
I would like to introduce our director, Mr. Chatree Pradutchon, Vice Directors Mr. Prasan Sukumpa, Mr. Prakat Ontam, Mr. Pornchai Silayeang and Mr. Yongyuth Swatwongchai, Education Hub Manager, Mrs. Nuanchawee Klangprapan, Department Heads, Miss Sirin Jumnunsiri. Also, there are 13 English teachers; all teachers are qualified and responsible for their own duties.
We feel they are nice and helpful and take good care of the students just like we were the same family. This make students enjoy studying at PCCM. “How do you teach English in your school?” is the biggest challenge of my teaching career. As far as I am concerned, the most important reasons are both creating dynamic lesson plans and using a wide variety of teaching methods. Successfully making dynamic lesson plans demands careful planning from start to finish. A teacher should first set up a series of experiment analyzing what students need.
These instruments are available on the web. A good one is publicly available at . One of the best forms suggests how to observe students in classroom. Another one is questionnaire.
A teacher should design what equipment is appropriate for his class; however, on the whole he has to conduct them by himself. After analyzing the students in learning English as a foreign language, I went on to set a goal and objective.
I provide an explanation for the differences between students need and what a teacher can offer them. In a fantastic plan, students are encouraged to participant in different kinds of activities developed carefully by both students and teachers. Students will learn several kinds of activities like songs, games and etc. Besides studying in class, at PCCM we let students take part in various activities that support our course work. For example, there are sports, cooking or home economics, computer program, dance, teacher-guides and camping, and many other activities. On the subject of method, using a wide range of teaching techniques involves several specific and significant steps. The techniques I would use are obvious, easy and dramatically attractive.
If my student wants to communicate in daily life, I will use Communicative Language Teaching. In 1984, Philipso said “If you do not know the language, it is impossible to communicate efficiently.”
The process of this technique is made up of three stages. They are presentation, practicing and production. But I would add two particular significant stages. They are warm – up and wrap – up. First, I will warm up the students by using songs and games. They will be motivated to study. Second, I will put forward a new content to the students.
They will learn how to pronounce easy and difficult words, how to use vocabulary in a practical way, and how to use grammar in pivotal role. Moreover, students will practice listening skill, speaking skill, reading skill and writing skill. Teachers have to do special steps to make sure their students are prepared to learn, grow and experience things. All of these are reasons why we teach at PCCM. We are proud of our school. If you would like to learn more, you are welcome to visit us in person, or on the web at www.pccm.ac.th. There you will see many more details, including pictures, and learn more about why I do believe PCCM is such a wonderful place!
